Virgin Atlantic has received more applications since updating its gender identity policy. Back in September, the popular airline announced its new Be Yourself campaign – which revealed changes to the established rules regarding employee dress codes. Under the series of adjustments, staff members – including crew, pilots and ground team – are now able to wear uniforms that aligns with their gender identity. British Airways to allow male pilots and crew to wear makeup for first time

Male pilots and cabin crew at British Airways will finally be allowed to wear makeup and piercings for the first time. It comes after the company updated its uniform policy which now encourages staff to “be bold, be proud, be yourself” at work. A memo to staff also stated that it hopes the changes will be “embraced by everyone regardless of gender, gender identity, ethnicity, background, culture, sexual identity, or otherwise”. Virgin Atlantic have updated their gender identity policy to allow crew, pilots and ground team the choice of what uniform they wear. The airline has removed the requirement for staff to wear gendered uniforms, and staff can now wear what best represents them. The iconic red and burgundy uniforms were designed by Vivienne Westwood.
