Eurovision winner Jamala forced to flee Ukraine after Russian invasion
Jamala, the singer who won the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest for Ukraine, has been forced to flee her country because of Russia’s invasion. Since 24 February, the day military action began, the United Nations refugee agency confirmed that at least 500,000 refugees have fled the country. It is believed to be the most extreme week of human flight within the European continent since at least the Balkan wars, which took place in the 1990s.
