A California high school cheerleading coach was fired for being gay

A Murrieta Valley High School (MVHS) cheerleading coach was fired from his position for being gay. According to a report from the Patch, Michael Henderson was the beloved coach for the school’s cheer and stunt program for nearly three years. Shortly after his removal, Henderson filed a wrongful termination lawsuit and said that process of firing him was “flawed”. Hungary activists push back against anti-LGBTQ+ law during protest

Activists in Hungary displayed a 30-foot-high rainbow heart outside of parliament in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community.  According to a report from The Associated Press, the group vowed to start a civil disobedience campaign in retaliation to the country’s new anti-LGBTQ+ law.  The legislation, which was passed by 157 votes to just one in the National Assembly, bans “content promoting gender change or homosexuality” within the school curriculum.  The bill has widely been compared to Russia’s “gay propaganda” law, which was passed in 2013, that bans disseminating “propaganda on nontraditional…

A suspect has been arrested for defacing two LGBTQ+ murals in Manchester

A man was arrested in relation to the recent defacing of two murals in Manchester’s Gay Village. According to a report from the BBC, the man has since been bailed out and is currently pending further questioning.  At the end of June, a mural of Drag Race UK star Divina de Campo was targeted, as well as one with World War II code breaker Alan Turning and drag legend Foo Foo Lammar. Thousands of Polish LGBTQ+ activists march in Warsaw for Equality Parade

Hungary proposes new legislation banning LGBTQ+ content from school curriculums

Hungary has unveiled a new proposal for an anti-LGBTQ+ bill that censors the LGBTQ+ community in schools.  According to a report from Reuters, the proposed legislation is looking to ban “content promoting gender change or homosexuality” within the school curriculum.
